Accompanied by Deutsche Bahn experts, the group engaged in a comprehensive agenda covering both fleet and infrastructure maintenance. The program combined strategic discussions with practical, on-site experiences, including guided tours of maintenance depots and direct exchanges with operational teams.
Key highlights from the event included:
Digital fleet maintenance in practice: Participants explored Deutsche Bahn’s approach to digital fleet maintenance, including real-world applications within DB Regio and S-Bahn operations. Presentations highlighted how data-driven tools and diagnostics improve maintenance planning, reduce downtime, and enhance system reliability.
Maintenance depot operations and best practices: The delegation visited multiple maintenance facilities, gaining insights into day-to-day operations, asset management processes, and the role of workforce expertise in ensuring efficient and reliable fleet maintenance.
Exchange with German urban transit agencies
The delegation engaged with leading urban transit operators, including Kölner Verkehrs-Betriebe (KVB) and Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG), to gain insights into light rail maintenance, procurement strategies, and digital transformation. Through expert presentations and guided depot tours, participants explored how large metropolitan transit systems manage fleet performance, modernization efforts, and day-to-day operations in complex, high-demand environments.
