The multi‑day program provided an opportunity to strengthen collaboration, align on strategic priorities for 2026, and deepen understanding of key operational and infrastructure initiatives across the DB Group.

The meetings began in Berlin, where teams discussed strategic priorities and explored opportunities for deeper transatlantic cooperation. Throughout the visit, participants engaged with DB experts across multiple business units and visited operational sites to gain firsthand insight into the systems and innovations shaping Germany’s rail network. The team also experienced Berlin’s December markets and used the opportunity to travel on InterCity Express (ICE) and regional services to familiarize themselves with customer experience, service performance, and station environments.

Key highlights from the event included:

Visit of Deutsche Bahn’s Engineering and Testing Center: The leadership team visited DB Systemtechnik, Deutsche Bahn’s engineering and testing center, to learn about its work in rolling stock engineering, approval processes, and technical innovation. The visit provided insights into testing capabilities, research activities, and DB’s approach to ensuring safety, reliability, and technical excellence across the fleet.

Visit to Train Maintenance Depot: The delegation toured a DB train maintenance depot to learn more about maintenance planning, facility operations, and best practices for ensuring high fleet availability and reliability.

Overview of Station Projects: DB colleagues provided an overview of major station modernization projects, highlighting design concepts, operational planning, and approaches to improving passenger flow and customer experience.

Experiencing DB Services Firsthand: The group tested the network themselves by traveling on ICE and regional rail services, offering direct insights into service quality, operations, infrastructure, and the passenger journey.

The leadership visit to Berlin offered a valuable platform to strengthen strategic alignment, share expertise, and deepen collaboration across the DB Group. DB E.C.O. North America extends its thanks to all DB colleagues for their time, support, and continued partnership.
